Located in Northern California the Joby Aviation team has been steadily working toward our goal of providing safe affordable fully electric air transportation that is accessible to everyone. Imagine an air taxi that takes off vertically then quietly and quickly carries you over the congestion below giving you back that time youd otherwise spend sitting in traffic. Technology has advanced to the point where designing and operating an all-electric aircraft is completely viable. Our team has been discreetly designing and flight testing this vehicle and is looking for talented individuals to see it through certification and high rate production.
Joby Aviation is seeking a Flight Simulation Lab Technician to join our government operations team. The position will initially be located in our Springfield OH simulator location with the ability to travel to various conventions and events in support of Jobys strategic objectives. This is a technical role that involves operating updating maintaining and debugging the Joby Aviation Flight Simulator. This role will be managed by our D.C. Flight Simulation Lab Manager in Washington D.C. and supported by our Sant Cruz CA simulation software team. This role will work closely with our software simulation team flight test certification and more. This role will operate in a fast-paced demanding and rewarding environment with very high expectations for individual contribution.
? Responsible for the day to day operations of our flight simulation effort in Springfield Ohio
? Host various government and regulatory officials that will conduct demos and familiarization flights in our simulators.
? Operate load and update all software systems related to simulation
? Troubleshoot and debug issue related to the operation of the Flight Simulator and work with a cross-functional team to solve any problems
? Perform daily system readiness test pre-operational and post-operational checkouts
? Clean training devices set up rooms and surrounding areas as required
? Proficiency with the use of Linux
? Understanding of networking system
? Understanding of version control systems (Git)
? Technical College Degree with 2 years of related experience in the maintenance troubleshooting repair and operation of full flight simulators.
? Proficiency in common workplace software: Word Excel Powerpoint etc.
? Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
? Experience in the simultaneous management of multiple high-paced engineering projects
? Strong communication skills both oral and written
? Previous military flight simulator experience
? Commercial pilot certificate in rotorcraft or airplanes
? Experience with government innovation incubators (AFWERX SOFWERX IQT)
? Experience with aerospace or electrical vehicle projects
? Experience in military or government operations particularly in aviation divisions or units
