About the role

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is at the forefront of shaping the future of aerospace, delivering critical defence capability across Australia and New Zealand. BDA provides ongoing support to a fleet of Boeing aircraft platforms through the delivery of design services, engineering modifications, repairs, and continuing airworthiness support.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Officer - Mechanical Systems to join our team in support of our NZDF customer and the P-8A Maritime Patrol Aircraft fleet.

In this role, you will be responsible for the development, review, and approval of technical documentation, as well as the support of technical investigations and airworthiness activities. Reporting to the Program Engineering Manager, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technical officers, engaging closely with stakeholders in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Officer - Mechanical Systems, you will: 

  • Conduct?technical troubleshooting, analysis, and investigations?on P-8A aircraft systems 
  • Review?technical information, including?Airworthiness Directives?and?Service Bulletins, to assess, develop, promulgate, and review designs and repairs 
  • Support?Continuing Airworthiness Management?activities in accordance with the?Defence Aviation Rules?and related regulatory frameworks 
  • Contribute to the?continuous improvement?of engineering processes and systems 
  • Engage effectively with team members, leaders, and technical representatives, including stakeholders based in?New Zealand 
  • Collaborate across programs to help drive?technical excellence?and effective outcomes 

Experience/Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

  • Strong aircraft technical knowledge, skills, and experience (experience with?defence aircraft?is preferred) 
  • The ability to?work independently and collaboratively?to a very high standard 
  • The ability to meet?Defence Security?and?Export Control?requirements 
  • Meet the Engineers Australia membership requirements?or equivalent eligibility 
  • A?Certificate IV in aeroskills qualification?or equivalent relevant technical qualification/experience 

Eligibility: 

Applicants must be Australian citizens to meet Defence security requirements and must be willing to undergo the standard government vetting process, including a full life background check. BDA will sponsor and support the required clearance process.
