The Opportunity
Are you seeking a key leadership role in a dynamic military aerospace program? The P-8A Program is looking for a Strategic Project Manager to join their team. In this role, you will lead proposal development, capture, and delivery of future strategic aircraft and ground system projects planned for the RAAF Edinburgh precinct. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project management, proposal development, and strategic planning within the aerospace or Defence sector. This position requires a deep understanding of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul, as well as the ability to manage complex projects from inception to completion.

This role is based at RAAF Base Edinburgh.

As the Strategic Project Manager you will be responsible for liaising with customers and stakeholders at all levels, both internal and external.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and management of the P-8A Program strategic roadmap ensuring objectives are being pursued and communicated across the relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and submission of proposals for strategic aircraft and ground system projects, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and BDA governance processes.
  • Lead the delivery of approved strategic aircraft and ground system projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and achieve the required project objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, logistics, maintenance operations, finance, trade control, and commercial to ensure project success.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions as needed to mitigate risks and ensure project objectives are met.

To be considered for the role you will have:

  • Proven experience in leading the full project lifecycle for large-scale, complex projects, ensuring successful and timely completion.
  • Tertiary qualification in a business-related field, such as Project Management or Engineering.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with senior company and customer representatives.
  • Previous experience in complex proposal development within an ASDEFCON-based contracting environment.
  • Strong project leadership and people skills, with the ability to recognize high achievers and develop their skills.
  • Experience in a military or commercial aerospace environment, including knowledge and understanding of Airworthiness regulatory environments.
