Boeing Defense Space and Security (BDS) Business Development is seeking a Space Business Development Leader, United States Systems Command (USSPACECOM) for the Huntsville, AL Office.

The focus of this position is customer interface in support of Boeing’s work with the United States Systems Command (USSPACECOM) and other local Government space and industry customers.

In this role, you will report to the Senior Manager of Space Field Engagement. You will be a key member of the BDS Business Development and Strategy team responsible for representing the face of Boeing to USSPACECOM, the marketing of business development activities, and support of all Boeing customer and community engagement efforts.  

You will represent Boeing and our newest Space and Ground architectures, products, and capabilities, to include: digital engineering; architecture modeling and simulation; proliferated networked space systems; capable bus platforms operational in all orbits; rapid manufacturing; cyber robust networks; space based sensors; laser communications; advanced ground systems; cloud architecture; mission management and data processing; command and control systems, demonstrations and prototypes, etc. This is a highly complex set of offerings for a rapidly evolving contested space domain – the key to this role is your ability to build relationships, listen to the customer, and communicate how Boeing products support the mission as well as schedule and affordability needs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and maintain superb relationships with USSPACECOM.
  • Integrate the interface with the customer and internal Boeing resources to keep both apprised of key issues and concerns. 
  • Proactively engage customers to understand capability needs and requirements. 
  • Understand Boeing products and how they are or may be employed. 
  • Support Boeing leaders with timely, accurate knowledge of customer priorities, program execution issues, capability gaps and opportunities. 
  • Establish and maintain a team-based culture with BDS stakeholders, and facilitate close coordination to ensure unified, cohesive messaging to the customer. 
  • Intimate familiarity with the Space Force Design to Execution and requirements processes, the acquisition system, with specific emphasis on the key functions led by US Space Force: responsible for operating and defending military satellites and ground stations that provide communications, navigation and Earth observation, such as the detection of missile launches. Provide insight, based on US Space Force requirements, to recognize and develop opportunities within existing and emerging Boeing business units’ programs. 
  • Contribute to the development of strategies for capturing new DoD and proprietary business.  
  • Actively participate in local civic, business, defense industry and professional associations.  

Some remote work is possible however the selected candidate will be readily available for on-site work at or near Huntsville, AL. 

This position requires an active Top Secret/SCI U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience): 

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher 
  • 10 or more years of experience working within or with Military or DoD customers 
  • 3 or more years of quality experience in a Defense or Space related program (e.g. NASA, DoD, Intelligence Community, etc.) 
  • 5 or more years of experience in Business Development
  • Experience interfacing directly with senior military officials and executives 
  • Communication experience, both written and verbal, with a comfort in public speaking and frequent interactions with executive-level management 
  • A background in US Space capability areas, organizations, operations, processes, logistics, acquisitions, and weapons systems. 
  • Knowledge of the USSPACECOM Staff, Major Commands supporting US Space Force and Department of Defense Combatant Commands. 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience): 

  • Prior Military experience working in Space
  • Capture Team experience
  • Graduate from one or more of the National/Service War Colleges 
  • Occasional travel (25% of the time)  
  • Experience in a leadership role leading diverse teams, initiatives, or projects to meet business objectives and influence change
