The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for a Supplier Management Specialist to join the Brisbane team.

The Supplier Management Specialist will play a pivotal role within the Supply Chain Excellence (SCE) team. This position is responsible for establishing a structured approach to managing key and major suppliers, coordinating official supply chain communications and protocols, assisting with continuous improvement activities; and ensuring alignment with the organisational goals. The Specialist will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance supplier relationships and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
    • Lead initiatives aimed at improving supplier performance and optimising supply chain processes.
    • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in supplier management, integrating innovative solutions into command media.
    • Updating and revising standard templates utilised by Subcontract Specialists throughout Boeing Defence Australia.
    • Liaising with the legal team with general requests.
    • Support and facilitate training.
  • Supplier Performance Management Framework:
    • Manage and implement a supplier performance management framework that categorizes suppliers (e.g., Strategic, Key, Major, and General) and establishes measurement and monitoring requirements.
    • Manage the performance of general suppliers (i.e., those not under contract) and conduct regular supplier performance category reviews.
    • Monitor and report supplier performance across all supply chain management functions, ensuring a holistic capability view.
  • Supplier Relationship Management:
    • Foster strong relationships with strategic suppliers through agreements and collaborative initiatives.
    • Work closely with suppliers to support their development and enhance overall supply chain performance.
    • Supporting colleagues with supplier remediation.
  • Supplier Risk Management:
    • Assess business criticality and ensure supply chain preparedness by identifying and mitigating risks associated with suppliers.
    • Monitor compliance with modern slavery, health and safety, quality, sustainability standards, export control, and cybersecurity measures.
    • Conduct ongoing supply base optimisation and consolidation, including reviewing the number of approved suppliers and assessing inactive suppliers.
    • Ensure visibility into suppliers supply chains and evaluate supplier elements of principal risk.
  • Supply Base Management and Supplier Intelligence:
    • Utilise JOSCAR and conduct market analysis to identify prospective suppliers and assess their capabilities.
    • Oversee the pre-qualification process for new suppliers and manage approved supplier data.
    • Handle supplier communications (non-contract related) and address queries to ensure effective engagement.
  • Support development of Command Media:
    • Advise and provide guidance with the creation and maintenance of command media that outlines policies, procedures, and best practices for managing key and major suppliers.
    • Ensure that command media is aligned with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordination of Supply Chain Communications:
    • Coordinate and issue official supply chain communications and protocols to ensure consistent messaging and information sharing across the organisation.
    • Develop and maintain communication templates and guidelines to facilitate effective interactions with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Commerce, Law, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier management, procurement, or supply chain operations, with a focus on developing and implementing management frameworks.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of supplier management principles and practices.
    • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
    • Solid understanding of boilerplate contract clauses.
    • Proficient in supply chain management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with suppliers and internal teams.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
