As an Inspector in Machining and Fabrication, you will be at the forefront of our quality assurance efforts, ensuring that every component meets the highest standards of precision and safety. Your expertise will be essential in analyzing inspection requirements, utilizing advanced measuring equipment, and collaborating with team members to drive continuous improvement in our processes. Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze inspection requirements and prioritize work based on inspection flow and available resources.

  • Utilize mathematical calculations, engineering drawings, and precision measuring equipment to complete job assignments.

  • Collaborate with team members in problem-solving and process improvement activities to document standard work.

  • Provide guidance and instruction to team members on drawing interpretation, problem identification, and relevant policies and procedures.

  • Verify the completeness and accuracy of all necessary documentation, including manufacturing orders and applicable specifications.

  • Process and monitor non-conforming parts and assemblies, ensuring proper documentation and identification of rejection numbers.

  • Oversee the handling of non-conforming parts per Material Review Board dispositions, ensuring compliance with Quality Operating Instructions.

  • Recognize the need for special testing or inspection and route such cases to the appropriate areas prior to acceptance.

  • Coordinate with internal and external organizations, including customers and suppliers, to clarify requirements and provide additional information as needed.

  • Conduct dimensional inspections of parts and assemblies using precision measuring tools, rejecting any discrepant items.

  • Perform in-process inspections, including audits and visual inspections, to ensure quality standards are met.

  • Ensure that all tools and equipment used in the shop are certified and in compliance with safety standards.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other shifts, providing status updates and relevant information on inspections.

  • Support engineering research and development by conducting necessary inspections and providing feedback on quality improvements.

  • Mentor and train lower-grade inspectors on procedures, equipment usage, and quality standards to enhance team performance.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years’ experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications (e.g., blueprint/schematic reading, specification, change, design).

  • 1+ years of experience using software applications for internet  navigation, email, Microsoft Suite and/or other specialized computer applications.

  • 1+ years’ experience in setting and using precision measuring tools and equipment such as micrometers, calipers, and/or dial indicators.

  • 1+ years’ experience conducting Inspections using ASME Standards for Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD & T).

  • Experience as a Quality Inspector.

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  1+ years’ experience calibrating and/or using coordinate measurement machines, laser trackers, and/or optical measurement devices

Typical Education & Experience:

High school graduate or GED preferred.
