GAL AeroStaff Ltd. is an aerospace staffing company specializing in temporary and permanent staffing for general and technical positions in the aviation and aerospace industry.

We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Shop Manager to oversee daily operations at our Aircraft Paint Refinishing facility. The Shop Manager will be responsible for managing production schedules, supervising paint technicians, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety standards, managing budgets, and ensuring projects are completed on time and to the highest standards of craftsmanship and compliance. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in aircraft surface preparation and painting, and a commitment to excellence in customer service. Shop manager reports to Senior Management/CEO.

Key Responsibilities:
• Operational Leadership: Manage and coordinate all refinishing projects from planning through completion. Ensure work is executed efficiently, safely, and within the allocated timeframe and budget.
• Team Management: Lead, schedule, and supervise shop personnel including paint technicians, preppers, and detailers. Conduct training and performance evaluations.
• Quality Control: Monitor workmanship to ensure all paint refinishing meets or exceeds FAA regulations, OEM standards, and customer expectations.
• Production Scheduling: Plan and maintain production schedules, allocate labor, and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
• Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant working environment by enforcing OSHA standards, environmental regulations, and company policies.
• Inventory & Supplies Management: Oversee inventory of paints, chemicals, tools, and supplies; coordinate ordering and monitor usage to control costs.
• Customer Coordination: Interface with customers regarding project updates, job specifications, and post-delivery feedback.

• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation, quality assurance records, work orders, and reports for management.

• Equipment Maintenance: Ensure that all spray booths, equipment, and tools are properly maintained, serviced, and operational.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and profitability.
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aircraft painting, refinishing, or MRO operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Strong knowledge of aircraft refinishing procedures including sanding, masking, priming, top coating, and detailing.
• Familiarity with paint systems (e.g., Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings, AkzoNobel, PPG Aerospace).
• Understanding of FAA regulations, AS9100 Quality, and other applicable standards.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
• Proficient with project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends, to meet production demands.
• Valid driver's license; ability to pass background checks and drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:
• FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License or Aircraft Painting Certification.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training/certification.
• Experience working in a Part 145 Repair Station environment.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Ability to wear protective gear including respirators and suits.
