Aircraft Mechanic - ALSS/Egress
Jacksonville, Florida
Salary range: $35.00 - $38.00 hourly DOE
Position Summary
Tactical Air Support is currently seeking an experienced F-5 Egress Systems Technician to join our Aircraft Integration and Modernization Team in Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate for the Egress Systems Technician must possess a high degree of expertise in Fighter Aircraft Egress Systems Maintenance (preferably F-5 or T-38). This position will perform F-5 Egress System organizational, intermediate, and limited depot-level maintenance, including inspections, operational tests, repairs, structural modifications, and troubleshooting, on all assigned aircraft, components, and equipment. Be knowledgeable to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance, guidance, and instruction to other teammates as needed. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment, promote the company's values, policies, and standards of conduct, and be responsive to the needs of the company, colleagues, and customers.
Responsibilities
- All on and off equipment maintenance of Adversary F-5 Egress Systems.
- Remove, transport, inspect, repair, and install Ejection Seats and Canopies.
- Perform Aircraft and Emergency Oxygen System maintenance.
- Rigging explosive linkages/devices applicable to Ejection Seats and Canopy Jettison Systems.
- Rigging and fitting F-5 canopies, canopy drive, and canopy locking mechanisms.
- Inventories, stores, removes, and replaces Ejection Seat and Aircraft CAD/PAD explosive items.
- Deceleration (Drag) parachute packing, inspecting, system rigging, removal, and installation.
- Conduct Egress Familiarization/Seat Checkout training.
- Provide technical guidance for the assembly of ejection seats, canopies, and other egress system components.
- Adhere to and instill product discipline to align with production imperatives of safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
Requirements
- Qualified Egress USAF Tech School or USN/USMC "A" School Graduate or possess equivalent civilian experience with associated training credentials.
- Minimum 6 years of applicable Egress Systems maintenance experience.
- Egress System CDI, CDQAR, or 7-level skill rating.
- Experience with high-performance military aircraft (preferably F-5 or T-38).
- Experience rigging and fitting Canopy Systems (preferably F-5 or T-38).
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid state driver's license.
- U.S. Citizenship, and the ability to obtain/maintain government security clearance.
Desired Experience/Skills
- Previous Training Instructor experience. Quality Inspector experience
- F-5 (or T-38) specific experience (Ejection Seats, Canopy Systems, Oxygen Systems).
- Martin Baker US16J Ejection Seats experience.
- Aircrew Flight Equipment/Parachute Rigger experience.
- NALCOMIS/OOMA and VFS Trace experience.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting of up to 80 pounds (with assistance).
- Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, reaching with hands and arms.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Authorization
- Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a U.S. government I-9 Form.
- Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace. Pre-employment, random, or for cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) required.
- Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications required.
- Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), and electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards.
- May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials.
- Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements.
- Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime work may be required.
- Occasional travel to various work sites throughout CONUS and OCONUS may be required.
