F-5 Aircrew Flight Equipment / Aviation Life Support Systems Technician
Jacksonville, FL
Salary rate: $38.00-$40.25 hr. DOE
Position Summary
Tactical Air Support is seeking an experienced F-5 Aircrew Flight Equipment (AFE) / Aviation Life Support Systems (ALSS) Technician to join our Aircraft Integration and Modernization Team The ideal candidate will have extensive tactical aircraft AFE/ALSS experience, preferably Responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, modifying, and certifying F-5 egress systems, life support equipment, survival systems, and armament systems to ensure mission readiness and personnel safety Will support flight operations by maintaining ejection seats, canopy systems, emergency oxygen equipment, and flight gear in compliance with technical manuals, military standards, FAA regulations, and company procedures Must be able to work effectively in a team environment, promote the company's values, policies, and standards of conduct, and be responsive to the needs of the company, colleagues, and customers
Responsibilities
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and certify tactical aircraft AFE, ejection seat, canopy, armament, and systems
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on ALSS, oxygen systems, survival kits, parachutes, harnesses, flotation devices, and flight gear
- Remove, install, test, and inspect egress and survival equipment per technical data and manufacturer requirements
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, technical manuals, FAA regulations, and quality standards
- Interpret engineering drawings, maintenance instructions, service bulletins, and technical publications
- Maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, and accountability records
- Manage CAD/PAD inventory, storage, inspection, and handling for ejection and escape systems
- Conduct Safe-for-Flight inspections and provide system readiness recommendations
- Perform periodic inspections and corrosion control to ensure equipment reliability
- Coordinate with engineering, QA, production, supply chain, and customers to resolve technical issues
- Train and mentor personnel on egress systems, life support equipment, safety procedures, and technical standards
- Maintain compliance with explosive safety, hazardous material, environmental, and occupational safety requirements
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of AFE/ALSS maintenance experience
- Military AFE/PR School graduate or equivalent civilian training and experience
- Extensive knowledge of AFE, ALSS, and survival equipment maintenance
- CDI, CDQAR, or 7-level AFE/ALSS qualification
- Experience supporting high-performance military aircraft (F-5/T-38 preferred)
- Valid driver's license
- Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States, complete a US government I-9 form, and successfully pass a government background check
Desired Experience/Skills
- Instructor and/or maintenance inspector experience
- Experience with ejection seats, canopies and related systems
- Knowledge of CAD/PAD, explosive safety and ordnance accountability
- Experience with NALCOMIS/OOMA and VFS Trace
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting of up to 80 pounds (with assistance)
- Normal color vision is required
Work Authorization
- Must be lawfully eligible to work in the United States and complete a US government I-9 Form
- Tactical Air Support is a Drug & Alcohol-Free Workplace Pre-employment, random, or for-cause drug/alcohol testing (including for marijuana) required
- Pre-employment and ongoing physical certifications required
- Occasional aircraft hangar or warehouse environment with exposure to loud noises, fumes from engines and chemicals, unpredictable climate (hot/cold), and electrical shock, or trip or slip hazards
- May be exposed to or required to handle hazardous materials
- Specific work hours determined by operational, departmental, or contractual requirements
- Occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime work may be required
- Occasional travel to various work sites throughout CONUS and OCONUS may be required
