The Boeing Commercial Airplanes Division is looking for Mid-Level Loads and Dynamics Analysis Engineers in Everett, Washington to support all aspects of Boeing from product conception to customer support.  This position currently allows hybrid-telecommuting.

The Loads and Dynamics organization within Flight Sciences is responsible for airplane level aero elastic analyses (External Loads and Flutter) across the entire airplane life cycle (concept and configuration development, design, test, validation, certification, and in-service support).  Our engineers work closely with many other technical disciplines and organizations to integrate solutions to complex engineering problems and have both large impact and high visibility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will work in a collaborative environment, performing airplane level loads and flutter analysis and tests, using aero elastic methods to solve static, time history, and frequency domain analysis.

  • The candidate may compute distributed aerodynamics and participate in wind tunnel, ground and flight test programs, by assisting in the development of test requirements, data analysis and documentation.

  • The candidate may compute aero elastic loads, by using analytical models that incorporate structural, aerodynamic, and control systems characteristics and assist in performing airplane level design, fatigue and damage tolerance analyses that meet defined requirements, to support airplane level vehicle design.

  • The candidate may perform aero elastic stability analysis, by using analytical models that incorporate structural, aerodynamic, and control systems characteristics, to ensure airplane level structural stability margin requirements are met.

  • The candidate participates in verifying that airplane level vehicle design meets requirements, and documents results in order to substantiate structural integrity and show compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.

  • This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. Everett, Washington

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Educational or work background in aerodynamics, aero elasticity, computational fluid dynamics, maneuver load analysis, structural dynamics, modern control systems and/or finite element methods.

  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics/Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering plus 5 or more years’ experience or Master of Science in Aeronautics/Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with 3 or more years’ experience or a PhD in Aeronautics/Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Educational or work background in aerodynamics, aero elasticity, computational fluid dynamics, maneuver load analysis, structural dynamics, modern control systems and/or finite element methods.

  • Interest and experience in computational methods

  • Should be comfortable with collaborating across diverse skills including aerodynamics, mass properties, flight controls, structures, and flight and wind tunnel test.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
