Boeing Global Services is currently seeking an Experienced Technical Data Designer Lead to become part of the P-8 Peculiar Support Equipment Team in Fort Walton Beach, FL.

The successful candidate will be working with a team of technical writers, engineers and program leads to support the U.S. Navy P-8 Peculiar Support Equipment (PSE) program.  The candidate will be part of a unique experience responsible for leading the development of the PSE technical publications that has been specifically designed and created for the P-8 aircraft. 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of publication elements for support equipment maintenance for a fielded equipment minor system or multiple subsystems include theory of operations, testing and troubleshooting, illustrated parts breakdown, removal and installations procedures and schematic diagrams.
  • Understands the inter-relationships of all stakeholders and activities in the system, including the impact of changes in one area on another area.
  • Understands the inter-relationships between system components and plans, anticipate future events, and apply the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
  • Develop draft illustrations or provide illustration mark-ups.
  • Update publications elements based on internal/external reviews, source data changes and equipment modifications.
  • Collect, research and analyze source data and validates source data to include equipment requirements, maintenance concepts, task analysis documentations, work flows and concept of design to determine impact to technical publications.
  • Resolve source data gaps and inconsistencies with originator.
  • Estimate impact of the proposal or changes to the publication elements.
  • Provide technical manuals that meet the highest quality standards, regulatory requirements, company policies and processes and embrace first-time quality.
  • Evaluate training needs and provide coaching to team.
  • Monitor team performance and report on metrics.
  • Create an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture.

This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options (Fort Walton Beach, FL.).

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): 

  • Bachelors degree or higher or equivalent work experience.
  • Knowledge and work experience of ground support equipment or aircraft maintenance, tooling and or repair.
  • 3+ years’ experience reading and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent execution, communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience leading projects and teams.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications.
  • Experience with Extensive Markup Language (XML).

Typical Education & Experience:

Bachelors and typically 6 or more years’ related work experience, a Master’s degree and typically 4 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense (Fort Walton Beach, FL).
