The Muskoka Airport is located in the heart of beautiful Muskoka, Ontario. The airport provides services year round and is a key economic development driver for the area by providing services for both business and personal travel. During the summer season, the airport sees over 70% of its annual 15,000 aircraft movements from charter companies, corporate flights and recreational flyers. The airport also provides a variety of community and social services by way of providing support to Air Ambulances, electrical power companies and a variety of government organizations such as OPP, Corrections Canada and the Department of National Defence.

The Muskoka Airport CEO will be a dynamic and driven individual who can act as an accomplished and visible leader and serve the evolving needs and expectations of the Board of Directors and District Council, as well as continue to deliver all the services and expert advice that staff, tenants and business owners, and the community have come to expect. You will need to strike a balance between carrying on with the outstanding operational efforts and progress that have made the Muskoka Airport successful over the last number of years, while also bringing an enhanced level of innovation and experience necessary to move scheduled service and other airport development projects forward.

Within this role you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Muskoka Airport in accordance with all applicable Transport Canada, Federal Government, and District policies and agreements; ensuring effective relationships are maintained with airport based businesses and tenants, the aviation community and airport users; and fostering a positive image for the airport.
Other tasks you will undertake will include but are not limited to:
• Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to design and implement a strategic plan that leads to the development of the annual operational business plan and budget
• Provide leadership, vision and guidance in the development and delivery of the airport’s long range business/development plan and enhance the financial viability of the airport.
• Assume the role of Accountable Executive for the Muskoka Airport and act as the Safety Management System Manager for the implementation, management and maintenance of the Transport Canada required Safety Management System, ensuring the airport continues to be certified and compliant at all times.
• Lead and manage the Airport team.

As the successful candidate for this position, you will bring post–secondary education in a related field (aviation, business, public administration, planning or civil engineering) with preference given to a University degree. Airport Executive Accreditation is preferred, as well as five to seven years of related experience within the airport or aviation industry and significant exposure to business development and airport master or strategic planning. Your experience should also include a minimum of four (4) years of directly related (people) management experience, preferably in a unionized environment. You will have developed a robust tool box consisting of advanced knowledge of federal aviation legislation, regulations, service standards and directives in addition to well-developed leadership, business, strategic and business planning, public relations, financial management, operational management, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
