Boeing Aerostructures Australia are looking for Liaison Engineers (Product Review Engineer) in Melbourne to support the Airpower Teaming System - recently named MQ-28A Ghost Bat, is the first military aircraft to be designed, engineered and built in Australia in more than 50 years.

About the role

We are looking for a proactive individuals who can make quick engineering decisions; go beyond their desks and into the factory for hands-on engineering and also research complex technical issues.

This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, partnering closely with production personnel and technical experts. The role involves working collaboratively with the ATS production system to create comprehensive repairs and perform emergent issue resolution. On-site support is required (limited virtual work).

This is a support function role and, as such, requires a helpful approach and a willingness to team cross-functionally for continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Applies knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
  • Analyzes, conducts failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoots to understand root cause.
  • Provides written dispositions for routine design non-conformances.
  • Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
  • Develops routine customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment.

Participates in, but not limited to:

  • Material Review Boards and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.
  • Recommends simple non-destructive test procedures, tools, standards.
  • Conducts simple static strength analysis to validate interim design repairs meet original design loads criteria.

About you

  • Current or Prior Material Review Board (MRB) Certification or similar Product Review or Liaison Engineering experience.
  • Aerospace or product engineering experience in repairs, fabrication, manufacturing, and/or additive manufacturing
  • Relevant technological knowledge in design and/or structural analysis in aerospace structures and/or avionics
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to lead, work independently and in a team environment
  • Excellent cross-functional teaming, collaborative problem solving, building lasting relationships & proficiency in written and verbal communication

Please note that applicants must be Australian Citizens in order to meet Defence security clearance requirements. 

Classification Level:

This is an award position classified as an Eng/Sci 2A. The successful candidate will be required to complete a 3-month probationary period.
