Uses CAD equipment to provide support to manufacturing and other Design Engineers by preparing routine layouts detail drawings assembly drawings sketches and diagrams.
Details to include all views and dimensions necessary for manufacture.
Makes copies of drawings and maintains information regarding changes to database.
Makes simple decisions but refers most questions/problems to Design Engineers or Supervisor.
Understanding of drafting techniques and familiarity with engineering terminology.
Mechanical or Electrical aptitude with ability to complete basic mathematical calculations.
Knowledge and/or aptitude to learn PLM system Configuration Management and AS9100/ISO 9001 quality requirements
Main Assignments : essential duties and responsibilities
+ Design parts (tooling) based on product needs to help manufacturing.
+ Uses computer assisted design/drafting (CATIA AutoCAD and/or Inventor) software and equipment to develop designs.
+ Creates and revises production drawings (detail and assembly drawings).
+ Makes final sketch of proposed drawing checking dimension of parts materials to be used relation of one part to another and relation of various parts of whole structure or project.
+ Sketches rough layout product and computes angles weights surface areas dimensions radii clearances tolerances leverages and locations of holes.
+ Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of products and draws finished designs from sketches.
+ Responsible for maintaining an organized file system for Production Drawings.
+ Communicate with Manufacturing Engineers QA other Design Engineers and Manufacturing regarding new and revised prints.
Qualifications / Requirements
Bachelor degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school and 0-3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions mechanical drawings and procedure manuals standard processes and requirements.
Ability to write routine reports operating instructions and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to speak read and write English and preferable Spanish.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Experience – Technical Skills
Entry Level position. One to three years of related experience and/or training.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
Competent skill level in CATIA and INVENTOR software. Skilled in PC usage and associated software including Microsoft Office (Word Excel Access and PowerPoint). Ability to learn new graphic software.
Interpersonal skills required : communication team player problem solving time management skills ability to accept and provide constructive feedback
