Senior System Integration Engineer

WHO YOU ARE:

+ Versatile and creative Systems Engineer who understands how to apply complex and innovative communication solutions to real world problems in a way that makes economic sense.
+ Enjoy designing broadband Satcom systems with features appropriate to applications such as airborne telemedicine remote backhaul ground mobile communications and defence applications
+ Collaborate each case's needs for system test integration and trial activities. These activities will be conducted in the scope of pan-European projects involving consortium partners where Viasat leads or contributes to the joint integration activities.
+ A Senior Systems Integration Engineer with expertise in planning defining and executing test integration and trial campaigns for our satellite communications systems. You will be expected to lead test activities engage and direct other engineers to achieve a common goal.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
+ Overall responsibility for project test activities by ensuring the test approach and validation programme meets the project requirements and the project team fully understand what is required
+ Requirements engineering including elicitation and derivation by managing internal and external suppliers for delivery of sub-systems to time cost quality and performance requirements
+ Performing validation activities by producing Requirements Verification Validation Matrix (RVVM) producing associated test cases ensuring all test documentation meets the requirements of the project and performing test activities
+ Leading deployment and testing of systems in both simulated and live environments along with coordinating and leading the engineering team when investigating faults
+ Manage satellite integration test lab
In addition from time to time you may be asked undertake other tasks and responsibilities not covered above in order to achieve project or corporate objectives.
+ 5+ years experience in the field of satellite communications networking and associated technologies
+ Familiar with wireless communication theory
+ An Engineering Degree
+ Recent relevant work experience
+ Experience in defining integration test plans
+ Experience in deriving system test requirements from system requirements
+ Hand on experience with communication test equipment
+ Fault finding ability down to LRU level
+ Fully conversant with System Integration Validation and Verification strategies including Certification and Environmental Qualification processes
+ Proactive and flexible approach to system testing
+ Practical and pragmatic problem solving ability
+ Have a wide appreciation of different engineering disciplines to enable governance and direction to be given over testing activities
+ Ability to facilitate when working with teams
+ Ability to lead and manage an integration team
+ Have excellent numeracy analytical organisational motivational team-working and communication skills both written and oral.
+ Be self-motivated reliable hardworking and flexible
+ Be able to multi-task and work to deadlines
+ Willingness to travel UK and international
+ Driving Licence
+ Full System Life Cycle Development Experience
+ Experience with DOORs
+ Expertise in protocol standards such as IPv4 IPv6 Mobile IP 802.11b/g GRE ARP and VPNs
+ Have well developed interpersonal skills especially in multi-cultural environments
+ Desire to learn and grow
