Advanced Flight Instructor Position
Upset Recovery, Stall/Spin, Advanced Aerobatics and Air Combat
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1000 operational flight hours as a NATO military fighter pilot
    • Preferred Aircraft Types: F-16, F-18, F-15/F-15E, or F-22
  • FAA Commercial Single-Engine Land (SEL) Pilot’s License
  • Work authorization in the United States
  • Live in (or move to) the Phoenix Arizona Area (within 50 Miles of KIWA)
  • Beneficial qualifications of additional interest to this employment:
  • 2-Years of Airline / Commercial Business Jet Experience – Any combination of;
    • PIC or SIC under Part 121
    • PIC under Part 135 or 91K
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor Rating (CFI)
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor Instrument (CFII)
  • FAA Advanced Ground Instructor Rating (AGI)
  • Tailwheel Endorsement
  • Air show or Competitive Aerobatics Experience
  • General Aviation Flight Experience
Other Details:
  • Training Commences: 2 Weeks (or less) from Employment Agreement Commitment
  • Revenue Flying Starts: 3 Weeks (or less) After Training Commences
  • Work Schedule: 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Tue – Sat incl.
    • (2 hrs earlier 15 May – 30 Sep seasonally)
  • Pay Rate / Salary: Starting at $75,000 annually for Full Time instructors
  • APS does not pay for travel or accommodation for employees working at fixed base locations
  • Salary / Pay starts when the instructor pilot is ready for revenue flying
    • During the initial training period, APS pays the employee at a reduced nominal rate
Required Work Availability Schedule:
We are looking for an experienced pilot with an availability commitment for FULL TIME employment from Tuesday through Saturday during the hours posted above.
This is primarily a flying and ground instruction position that includes advanced aerobatics in the world’s highest performance certified aerobatic aircraft; the Extra 300L. A secondary role of this position, as the employment develops, is instruction on Level D full motion simulators. APS revenue flying profiles include aerobatic rides & instruction, air combat maneuvering, formation flying/instruction, upset recovery and stall/spin training, all in strict accordance with APS standards. Other duties may include; schedule coordination, APS staff pilot training, aircraft maintenance monitoring, and flight program development subject to the needs of the company. The ideal candidate lives in the east valley of Phoenix (Arizona), enjoys all aspects of aerobatics and fighter aviation with a keen interest in passing along highly specialized flying skills and techniques to a wide spectrum of both private and professional pilots. A functional working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and computers in general is valuable. All pilot positions with APS Emergency Maneuver Training require well developed people skills, a safety-first attitude, friendly demeanor and a can-do work ethic towards all aspects of business and customer relations.
