Even though the airlines are in business to transport people from one place to another, they could not function without the help of many people on the ground, including those who take reservations and sell tickets, as well as those who help keep the airplanes operating on schedule.
They work in a flight kitchen at the airport. Work must be completed according to flight schedules. The kitchen is a busy, noisy place. Shift work is required, and uniforms must be worn.
Typical Requirements and/or Experience
Previous experience in food preparation. The minimum age requirement is 18+ depending on the airline. All workers must have health certificates. A respect for cleanliness and good housekeeping procedures is mandatory. Food service employees must be willing to work shifts.
High school graduate. Chefs often need a culinary degree, apprenticeship certification or equivalent knowledge.
Married and unmarried men and women, with or without children are eligible. Persons who are widowed or divorced, also are eligible.
