CBP AIA Pilots – Job Posting

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a key agency of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is hiring Air Interdiction Agents – Dual Rated Heavy Multi-Engine Airplane Pilots, Office of Air & Marine, to perform aviation law enforcement to detect, interdict and prevent acts of terrorism, and the unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs and other contraband toward or across the U.S. borders. Several positions are available in Puerto Rico.
  • Perform interdiction duties including intelligence gathering, detecting, intercepting, tracking, apprehending, testifying and acting as liaison with other federal, state, local, tribal and foreign law enforcement agencies
  • Develop strategies to track aircraft, vessels and people to accomplish an effective and successful interdiction
  • Gather and share intelligence information on illegal activities or potential acts of terrorism with internal customers, the general aviation and marine communities, and other law enforcement agencies
  • Testify under oath before a grand jury, federal court proceedings and/or other legal proceedings
  • Be a U.S. citizen and resident in the U.S. for the last 3 years
  • Be referred for selection prior to 37th birthday (waiver for veterans)
  • Successfully pass a polygraph exam, background investigation, drug test and fitness tests
  • Have current FAA Commercial Pilot Certification
  • Have 1500 flight hours (25% in either airplane or helicopter); 100 within 12 months
  • Have current FAA Class I or Class II Medical certificate
  • Carry a firearm
  • Have a valid driver’s license
  • Salary range: $58,562.00 to $76,131.00 per year
