Aerojet Rocketdyne seeks a Manager of Quality Engineering at its Los Angeles (DeSoto) facility. The manager will work seamlessly to drive the Quality Engineering discipline on the RS-25 program ensuring program and customer requirements are met.



Responsibilities

This supervisory position is responsible for department budget and performance of all Quality Engineers supporting RS-25 program needs accomplishing results through leadership. This position monitors work operations on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to direct reports as required to ensure product quality. The position requires an excellent understanding of the Quality Engineering discipline.

50% - Developing staff and leading execution of daily work assignments to meet RS-25 quality cost and schedule commitments.

25% - Provide guidance and assistance to subordinates in meeting program and customer needs. Establish and maintain a strong working relationship with local NASA and DCMA representatives. Ensure required government oversight is successfully performed.

25% Expand the Quality Engineering capabilities of the group by driving discipline ensuring staff is actively engaged with hardware in the plant mentoring junior members of the organization. Develop a curriculum designed to develop junior QEs into Quality Engineering Professionals.



Job Requirements:

Qualifications

Bachelors degree and nine (9) years of directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Progressively responsible technical experience in Quality Engineering in the Aerospace or related field.
  • Strong leadership problem solving and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated team player with the ability to motivate others and inspire change.
  • Ability to mentor and coach individuals.
  • Must have the ability to analyze evaluate and develop solutions to a variety of situations (technical organizational etc.).
  • Must consistently meet commitments.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire change.
  • Ability to succinctly and effectively communicate messages to executive management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • CQE CME or CSSBB
  • Strong working knowledge of PFMEAs control plans and process control
  • Experience leading a Quality Engineering team in a manufacturing environment with a track record of delivering quality performance improvements.

US Citizenship required. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.

Work Environment/Physical Requirements:

Employees in these positions must possess mobility to work in a standard manufacturing and/or office setting and to use standard office equipment including a computer; stamina to sit or stand and maintain attention to detail despite interruptions; may occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 pounds; may require occasional walking climbing stooping crouching and/or bending; and vision to read printed materials and a computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May require the ability to travel by air or auto. May require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses safety shoes and shop coat. These positions may be expected to work varying shifts and hours to ensure successful operation of activities in the organization.
