Blue Canyon Technologies currently has an opportunity for a Mission Operations Engineer to join our team. Mission Operations Engineers at BCT have full responsibility for multiple space missions including all mission phases from concept of operations development commissioning timeline development mission rehearsals launch and commissioning operations nominal operations and spacecraft decommissioning. The Mission Operations team at BCT also provides customer training and support for on-orbit operations. This engineer will be working in a team environment with frequent opportunities for customer engagement. This position is based out of our Lafayette Colorado office. Title: Mission Operations Engineer Position Type: Full Time Pay Range: $75000 - $167000 + (commensurate with experience and qualifications) Location: Lafayette CO Benefits: 100% company paid health dental and vision benefits for you and your dependents effective the first of the month following hire date Life insurance 401k (matching 4% with a 6% contribution) Generous PTO (3 weeks of vacation + 3 floating holidays 2 weeks of sick time 7 paid holidays throughout the year) and parental leave. Break rooms stocked with snacks and drinks Essential Duties and responsibilities include: Provide support to mission operations concept and flight product development Create and maintain requirements for ground and flight segments and assist with requirements verification and validation Create mission operations documentation procedures command scripts and timelines Develop and maintain ground segment software and tools in support of flight operations Lead and perform integrated system level testing of flight and ground segments Provide training to operations engineers both internally and externally to customer operations teams Serve as the primary point of contact for all satellite related questions from a customer following launch Perform and/or assist with real-time spacecraft/payload command and control during launch and early orbit Perform trending and analysis of spacecraft/payload performance and assist with anomaly investigations Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree in Aerospace Engineering System or Computer Science discipline 5+ years of experience in satellite operations including real-time spacecraft/payload operations support and flight product development and test Familiarity with all aspects of the satellite system life cycle including mission and instrument operations system design launch commissioning and operations Experience in generation of concept of operations plans procedures and timelines Proficiency in verification and/or validation of operations procedures and software Work closely with customer to define mission requirements and provide innovative solutions Collaborate closely with other technical program leads Excellent documentation and communication skills Ability to work rapidly with minimal supervision on projects involving both small and large engineering teams Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills Travel may be required periodically up to one week on each trip Existing or recent TS/SCI a plus Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office environment but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers scanners filling cabinets and fax machines. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
