The Engineer performs structural analysis of geometrically complex aerospace components and assemblies which spans static dynamic and thermal analysis.The Aerospace Structures Engineer works closely with Design System Project and Qualification engineering staff to assure structural requirements are consistently met.Primary Responsibilities:Perform structural analysis including linear static dynamic non-linear transient thermal and fatigue life and fracture mechanics predictions.Perform thermal transient stress analysis to support the development of conventional and additively manufactured products.Create test plans for the validation and verification of component thermal and dynamic performance and structural behavior.Collaborate with ES and AMS Design to produce products that meet technical weight and cost targets.Assist in hardware testing provide analytical support for testing and review test plans and results. Use this information to calibrate and improve the analytical methods.Provide documentation of analyses in the form of formal reports and presentations for management and customers.Continuously develop improve and validate analytical methods and processes to improve productivity and cost effectiveness.Provide structural guidance to ES and AMS Mechanical Design.Basic Qualifications:Bachelors degree and 7 years of relevant experience ORAdvance degree and 5 years of relevant experience ORIn absence of a degree 11 years of relevant experience is requiredMust be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident "Green Card" holderPreferred Qualifications:Bachelors or Advanced degree in EngineeringDemonstrated knowledge of finite element methods and use of finite element modeling tools such as Abaqus Ansys Nastran or equivalent.Experience in fracture mechanics and NASGRO or equivalent tool is a plusExperience in Python Unix Matlab FORTRAN or other programming languages is a plusPossess experience in 2D and 3D CAD tools including UG NX CATIA or equivalentExperience in thermal transient structural analysisDemonstrated success working effectively in fast-paced team environmentDemonstrated success working independently with limited direction/supervision to accomplish project goalsDemonstrated experience leveraging excellent written and oral communication skills required to conveys results and ideas effectively to drive business.Demonstrated experience working well within a team and possessing a positive attitude toward meeting individual and group commitments.Collins Aerospace a Raytheon Technologies company is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
