The Controller at Columbia Helicopters Inc. is responsible for overseeing and managing the tax accounting and financial control functions of the company. Reporting directly to the CFO the Controller leads the month-end financial closing processes implements process improvements and ensures compliance with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Oversee the month-end and year-end financial closing processes reducing close time and ensuring completion of month-end reconciliations and quarterly reviews.
+ Directs all accounting functions including accounts payable accounts receivable fixed assets and general ledger activities.
+ Manage adherence to ASC 606 revenue recognition standards for complex multiple-year contracts.
+ Manage adherence to ASC 842 lease accounting standards and ensure compliance with related reporting requirements.
+ Lead and coordinates year-end audits with external Audit and Tax firms.
+ Oversee payroll processing in coordination with HR.
+ Oversee tax planning and compliance activities ensuring adherence to all tax laws and regulations.
+ Lead the accounting internal control environment and oversee bank audits and appraisals.
+ Direct the preparation of monthly journal entries reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and maintenance of monthly workpapers.
+ Oversee the preparation of monthly financial statements and provide financial analysis and interpretation to senior management.
+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize business processes and drive operational efficiencies.
+ Mentor and develop accounting staff providing guidance training and support to foster professional growth.
+ Stay current with industry trends accounting standards and regulatory changes implementing best practices and recommending process improvements.
+ Demonstrate and promote the companys core values and foster a culture of integrity collaboration and continuous improvement.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s degree in accounting Finance or related field; CPA designation preferred.
+ Minimum of 10 years of experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller role with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
+ Thorough understanding of financial accounting principles practices and standards with hands-on experience in financial reporting analysis and controls.
+ Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.
+ Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software applications; experience with ERP systems UKG and Certify preferred.
+ Ability to thrive in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment managing multiple priorities.
+ Commitment to upholding ethical standards and promoting a culture of accountability and transparency.
+ Must meet International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements as a U.S. Person.
