A Field Mechanic assists in maintaining a large helicopter its component parts and the ground support equipment to ensure operational readiness. They assume responsibility for performing all assigned work in accordance with Company maintenance procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations. They diligently inspect for airworthiness issues or problems and report them to the immediate supervisor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -
+ Maintains the aircraft to ensure airworthy conditions
+ Conducts on the job training to other employees
+ Ensures entries in log books and forms are accurate and maintained to FAA and Columbia standards
+ Performs maintenance on ground support equipment
+ Crawls under works overhead and climbs onto the top of the helicopter
+ Lifts aircraft components and support equipment
+ Travels with assigned aircraft
+ Responsible for the team and our customers
+ Be punctual at all times and on location as needed
+ Practices safety in all areas and occasions and support the team for their own safety
+ Ability to meet or exceed the demands of the role physically and take appropriate precautions to avoid injury that results from physical exertion and stress
+ Responsible for ensuring that our customers’ and the team’s needs and expectations are always met often exceeded
+ Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE -
+ Valid driver’s license
+ FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (some exceptions allowed for those that meet the experience requirements for the FAA Form 8610-2)
+ 2.5 years of practical experience (preferred) or graduation from an approved aviation maintenance school
+ Medical approval to work in foreign countries when required
+ Valid U.S. passport or ability to obtain one
+ Ability to travel and work overseas or domestically in remote places
+ Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
+ Ability to physically perform the following:
+ Lift 20 to 100 pounds
+ Carry 20 to 75 pounds
+ Push 100 to 250 pounds
+ Push over 250 pounds
+ Pull 50 to 250 pounds
+ Bends squats stands walks reaches above shoulders below shoulders and at shoulders repetitive use of arms wrist and hands 67% to 100% of the time while frequently lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling loads and weights
+ Work outside in extreme heat or cold in frequently dusty noisy environments on uneven surfaces during working hours and days in succession with frequently long days of physically demanding work
+ Works numerous days in succession
+ Travels in unpressurized aircraft operating at or below 30K feet altitude
+ Ability to work under minimal direction while keeping within the limitations of designated authorities
+ Exercises sound judgment in all scenarios
