Provides oversight of UAS Operations team activities. Provides leadership for challenging and complex projects having national impact on UAS operational requirements related to maintenance activities prioritization of services infrastructure condition NAS operations acquisition process engineering support logistics design standards etcApplies experience and expert technical knowledge applicable to multiple disciplines across the NAS environment as well as enterprise services and relationships logistics and acquisition policies various ATO/FAA technical and programmatic policies and their application and impact on the NAS. He/she has technical knowledge of various ATSS disciplines engineering concepts air traffic systems and procedures maintenance processes etc. Identifies and resolves highly complex and challenging problems which often cross organizational boundaries and impact strategic objectives.NAS knowledge is essential to understand the business relationships and technical requirements to ensure services are maintained and available for the user while also maintaining critical NAS operations. Thorough knowledge across multiple NAS platforms including automation surveillance power environmental voice and telecommunications; NAS resiliency maintenance processes reliability centered maintenance and predictive analysis is imperative in order to understand safety and performance risks as well as impact to air traffic.He/she identifies defines and organizes work for multiple work activities. Directs projects activities and specialized workgroups involving national impact on UAS operational requirements related to maintenance activities prioritization of services infrastructure condition NAS operations acquisition process engineering support logistics design standards etc. Acquires and allocates resources to accomplish work activities within established schedules. Leads the AJW UAS requirements generation for integration with UAS ATO policies and guidance documentation. Ensures AJW participation in the Integrated Pilot Program (IPP) and the Unmanned Traffic Management (UTM) Pilot Program concept development and testing activities. Oversees AJW integration inputs timelines and completion status of the ATO UAS Services Plan.Participates in the ULT Working Group documentation review reviewing applicable UAS waivers and IPP/UPP ConOps and Specific Operations Risk Assessment (SORA) documentation as necessary. Understands risks from a safety performance and reliability perspective as well as impact to air traffic operations. Recommends improvements to implement UAS initiatives and concepts into AT OCPs. He/she develops workable solutions to integrate UAS technologies into the nations Air Traffic Facilities and Systems and Services. Leads UAS Technical Operations evaluations and studies to determine risks to NAS systems and services. Possesses knowledge of various ATO/FAA UAS policies and their application and impact on the NAS. Maintains awareness of new technologies and programs to enhance future NAS UAS capabilities in these areas.Plans and executes activities consistent with the strategic objectives of UAS initiatives. Reviews current operational requirements related to maintenance activities system impacts services priority infrastructure condition budget constraints and other field issues to sync them with UAS strategies. Ensures UAS requirements are adequately considered throughout the acquisition engineering and implementation processes.Travel Required25% or less - The job may require up to 25% travel. QualificationsCandidates must have one year (52 weeks) of SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (FV/FG-J/GS-14) that is typically related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. To be creditable SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE must have been at least equivalent to the next lower level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization.SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE includes:Experience in leading operational test and evaluation studies to determine impact and risks to NAS operations infrastructure and services.Experience in developing complex solutions to integrate new technologies into the nations Air Traffic Facilities Systems and Services.You should include relevant examples of the specialized experience in your work history.
