FlightSafety International is seeking interested candidates for a Helicopter Ground/Simulator Instructor role based at our Lafayette Learning Center. The Ground Simulator Rotorcraft-Helicopter Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of rotorcraft-helicopter pilot ground/simulator school training conducted for Customers receiving Initial Recurrent or generic training courses and measures the training progress of Customer(s) objectively and subjectively within the established curriculum.

Basic Functions:

  • Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain Instructor qualification in accordance with FlightSafety International s Quality Maintenance Systems (QMS) processes and procedures.
  • Deliver training to FlightSafety International clients in accordance with FlightSafety International s Professional Instructor Handbook.
  • Develop utilize maintain and revise ground school lesson plans and Pilot Training publications in accordance with FlightSafety International s Professional Instructor Handbook when applicable.
  • Complete and revise course syllabi and Expanded Instructor Action Guides (EIAGs) as delegated.
  • Keep current all certificates ratings and designations required to perform duties as a Simulator Instructor.
  • Perform administrative and recordkeeping duties relative to training. Report any Client training concerns to the Director of Training (DOT).
  • Interact with Simulator technicians concerning all Simulator functions and malfunctions during training and document accordingly.
  • Must be able and willing to participate in FlightSafety s DOT Drug and Alcohol testing program.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Associates degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school preferred or

three (3) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of

education and experience; equivalency years experience substitution must be in

related field.

Minimum of six (6) months experience in a teaching/training environment especially

where the material is designed for adult (over 18 years old) participants preferred.

Minimum of 100 hours documented night vision goggles experience preferred.

Prior to hiring the applicant for Flight Instructor (Simulator)/Synthetic Device

Instructor must have the following certificates in his/her possession prior to the start of

a simulator assignment.

The following are preferred experience in specific rotorcraft-helicopter environments:

  • Off-shore drilling rig pick-ups and deliveries
  • Emergency Medical (EMS) pick-ups and deliveries
  • Corporate Part 91 and Part 135 or 121 or foreign equivalent operations

CERTIFICATES LICENSES OR REGISTRATIONS:

If instructing in a rotorcraft-helicopter requiring a type-rating or in a rotorcraft helicopter

course leading to the issuance of an ATP certificate:

  • Flight Instructor certificate (CFI) rotorcraft-helicopter
  • ATP certificate rotorcraft-helicopter
  • 2000 hours Pilot-in-Command 1000 hours in rotorcraft-helicopter and 250 hours as a Flight Instructor

If instructing in a rotorcraft-helicopter not requiring a type-rating or in a rotorcraft helicopter course not leading to the issuance of an ATP certificate:

  • Flight Instructor certificate (CFI) rotorcraft-helicopter
  • Commercial Pilot certificate rotorcraft-helicopter with an instrument rating
  • 1000 hours Pilot-in-Command 500 hours in rotorcraft-helicopter and 250 hours as a Flight Instructor
