Youre a team player (we all rely on each other!) have good communication skills and love to learn.GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:Responsible for providing Cardiopulmonary Care Services in accordance with specific physicians orders department policies and procedures. May include cardiopulmonary care for newborns.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Administers respiratory therapy treatments SVNS IPPB IS MDIS CPT DPIS and PEP to open and maintain obstructed airways and maintain bronchial hygiene. Assesses patients needs ability to tolerate treatment response to treatment and effectiveness of therapy. Assesses possible side effects with intent of treating or preventing hypoxia. Sets-up and monitors mechanical ventilators. Makes clinical observation of patients responsiveness and effectiveness of mechanical ventilation. Carries out associated critical care duties required for such treatment. Provides airway management and tracheal suctioning. Performs Allens test before arterial punctures to obtain arterial blood samples for direct measurement of partial of PaCo2 Ph tHb (blood gas analysis). Cleans equipment according to department policy and procedures Documents all pertinent data on the patients medical record following completion of any service Follows standards for documentation policy for the RT department Sets up and monitors EKGs and Stress EKGs. Faxes and calls abnormal results. Sends reports to physicians. Files reports in department according to department procedures. Successfully completes and maintains all department competencies Schedules and performs complete Pulmonary Function testing following Hospital policy Inspects and tests respiratory therapy equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely and efficiently Formulates teaching plans for patients and family members based on identified learning needs Evaluates effectiveness of teaching. Participates in performance improvement activities and CQI teams when discussion pertains to department concerns workflow and missionSECONDARY FUNCTIONS: Other job duties as assigned Provides services to ER as requiredEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Current Washington State Respiratory Therapist License Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy BLS ACLS NRP certifications required One or more years of previous clinical experience preferred Must stay current in knowledge base certifications and licenses indicated above and meet Hospital-mandated education requirements 5 years RRT experience preferred 2 years ICU experience preferred 2 years neonatal experience preferredScheduleFTE: 0.0 (per diem) positions availableShifts: 12-hour shifts expected.
