As a Local Leader in the Systems Engineering and Mission Operations (SEMO) Directorate you will assist in managing employees badged and deployed to the Special Disciplines Department. Your responsibilities will be associated with department employees collocated in a geographic location. Functional disciplines of your employees will include at least one (and most likely three) of the following Special Disciplines: Survivability Mass Properties Human Factors Nuclear Surety E3 (EMI/EMC/ESD) ADR (Anomaly Detection and Resolution) and RAMT (Reliability Availability Maintainability and Testability).
As a Special Disciplines Local Leader you will:
Assist Special Discipline Functional Leaders and the Department Manager in building a strong team of individual contributors to plan and successfully execute engineering needs across multiple programs within a geographic location.
Partner with Functional Leaders by:
- Managing a local team of Special Discipline subject matter experts (SMEs) resources to support to programs proposal and various other needs such as surge support or participating in tiger teams
- Performing day to day employee management by fulfilling standard L-code duties that include but are not limited to assigning work overseeing that work and workloads evaluating employee performance timecard and expense report approvals etc.
- Participating in recruiting and hiring decisions
- Participate in forecasting needs
- Participate in employee development which includes career development training and mentoring etc
- Participating in identifying knowledge continuity and knowledge transfer (KC/KT) needs and conducting formal KC/KT
Provide technical support and technical leadership in one or more of the Special Disciplines. This support will include participating in or leading as an independent reviewer tiger teams proposals and various other technical support needs
Support the full life cycle of programs for example to help define the Systems Architecture Requirements and Verification Baseline development and flight test hardware baseline ground and flight test planning and design maturity milestone reviews. Support includes ensuring designs from the component level to the system level will meet performance requirements during ground test verifications and when during mission operations
Work closely with customer counterparts through direct engagement to develop test and field products
Be a Full Spectrum Leader who is disciplined in value driven Systems Engineering and drives design evolution in a systematic and thoughtful way
Fully embrace and promote Systems Thinking and Mission Success paradigms
Provide oversight and support to critical program area Engineering skill development

Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Physics or a related discipline
7+ years of technical experience with engineering special disciplines (e.g. Survivability Reliability E3 Mass Properties Nuclear Surety Human Factors and/or Fault Management)
Demonstrated experience in leading diverse engineering teams focused on engineering special disciplines
Demonstrated experience with the full engineering life cycle including design process used in aerospace for large complex systems
Demonstrated ability to drive closure and resolve technical challenges
Strong presentation and communication skills
Ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance
Experience leading anomaly resolution teams
Demonstrated ability for understanding and promoting Systems Thinking and Mission Success paradigms
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) application knowledge
Demonstrated ability to successfully interface with Customers and all levels of management
Able and willing to travel and lead multiple-site Engineering Team
Application and knowledge of systems engineering processes and related company command media and standards
Ability to develop technical talent and build a technical pipeline to sustain technical expertise within the organization
