The Control Systems Engineer is responsible for development of complex electrohydraulic electromechanical hydromechanical mechanical and electropneumatic test systems that will be used to test products of Moog Inc. The incumbent a fully trained professional plans and conducts efforts requiring judgment in the independent evaluation selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard engineering techniques procedures and criteria. Typically the Systems Engineer devises new approaches for the problems encountered.NATURE AND SCOPE:A variety of technical functions exist within the Design/Development Engineering Department. The Control System Engineer reports to the Manager of Test Equipment System Engineering. The incumbent receives instructions on specific assignment objectives complex features and possible solutions. He/She is expected to make independent and un-reviewed decisions on routine technical matters. However assistance is furnished on unusual problems and work is periodically reviewed for application of sound professional judgment.The Control System Engineer is a key contributor to the requirements development analysis conceptual design development and testing of complex control hardware used in test equipment for aircraft actuators. Most new applications require a special tailored design even though adaptation of existing designs always should be considered where appropriate. The Control System Engineer generally will operate as part of a design/development team which includes other Department engineers with his/her primary concern being system or component performance and integration. The incumbent will coordinate the work of drafters technicians design analysts engineers and others who assist in specific assignments as needed.In the early stages of a new program the project team will consult with the customer establish the problem statement conceive of potential hardware solutions to the problem often through extensive trade studies and then create a successful technical proposal. This phase is critical in that it establishes the basis for future design and for contract negotiations. The Control System Engineer will then guide the evolution of the requirements and the conceptual design control design system modelling in Matlab/Simulink/AMESIM detail design and development testing. This requires occasional travel and the organization of presentations to customers.ACCOUNTABILITIES: Contribute to the development of new product requirements through consulting with customers and sales personnel Validate conceptual problem solutions by performing trade studies and analyses Be a key contributor to the preparation of successful proposal designs cost estimates and technical volume write-ups Operate as a key element in a team of creative independent individuals. Represent Moog in a manner consistent with its technical reputation Create reliable designs through a comprehensive experimental development test program Document designs analyses and test results with accurate and concise reportsWhat you will need... MS Degree preferably in Systems Mechanical Aeronautical or Electrical Engineering plus six years of design/development engineering experience. As an alternative the candidate could have a PhD or a BS Degree plus ten years of design/development engineering experience Seasoned knowledge of closed-loop control systems and mechanical hardware designsPreferred: Self-starting instincts and strong analytical skills Good communication skills are also necessaryAt Moog we work in an environment where people trust respect and encourage one another.
