Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector is seeking an experienced Aircraft Structures Technician to support aircraft modifications on at our Lake Charles site and other domestic and foreign locations as required.

Job Description

Perform a variety of operations and become part of a small team of mechanics in order to complete the tasking assigned. Work is done in accordance with established procedures. Interpret complicated schematics/blueprints engineering drawings and technical instructions to safely perform sheet metal layout fabrication and installation of parts equipment or fabricated items on aircraft. Performing part-fitting operations such as filing sawing burring crimping trimming framing riveting drilling and reaming. Measure parts with micrometers and calipers to verify dimensions and locations to be attached. Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. Work as part of a team and coordinate with each other supervision engineering and Inspection to ensure compliance with installation drawings for internal sign-offs and quality specifications.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and at least 2 years experience in aviation sheet metal structures
  • Able to prioritize and adjust tasks simultaneously to accomplish the project result
  • Ability to make decisions which have impact on the organizations credibility operations and services
  • Ability to be subject to both external and internal environmental conditions
  • Ability to be subject to a variety of physical and atmospheric conditions
  • Able to wear respirator or other safety gear
  • Ability to be subject to areas which could cause various phobias due to height or closed space

  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years experience in aviation sheet metal structures with a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • FAA airframe and powerplant license.
