Date Revised: 01/08/2021 Position: Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Technician II Department: Maintenance Reports to: Aircraft Site Manager Job Code: Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Classification: Non-Exempt Background: PKL Services Inc. will provide F-18 organizational level (O-Level) maintenance in support of Test and Evaluation Squadron (VX-9). Work will primarily be performed at VX-9 Naval Air Weapons Station (NAWS) China Lake California 93555. Summary: As the PKL Services Inc. Aircraft Survival Flight Equipment Technician II you will be responsible for supervising performing maintaining disassembling repairing testing troubleshooting examining fitting modifying maintaining installing and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets torso harness assemblies life preservers parachutes life rafts chemical and biological protective devices survival kits oxygen masks anti-G suits. In addition to maintaining and servicing aircraft installed flight equipment. Tasks and Responsibilities: 1. Requires excellent organizational skills in prioritizing the flight equipment workcenter workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. 2. Supervising personnel who are responsible for maintaining disassembling repairing testing troubleshooting examining fitting modifying maintaining installing and determining serviceability of aircraft survival and flight equipment such as helmets torso harness assemblies life preservers parachutes life rafts chemical and biological protective devices survival kits oxygen masks anti-G suits. 3. Capable of supervising performing and inspecting the duties of assigned flight equipment personnel. 4. Working knowledge of operational and circuit checks of emergency signaling and communication devices such as survival radios and beacons. 5. Possess the working knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance procedures pyrotechnics and explosive devices and aircraft egress systems. 6. Detailed knowledge of the operation and characteristics of aircraft survival and flight equipment and the ability to demonstrate and explain proper usage and operation of the equipment. 7. Any and all other duties as assigned by the Aircraft Site Manager. Required educational/skills background: 1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. Contractor personnel shall be able to satisfactory completion of a National Agency Check Local Records and Credit (NACLC) or Access National Agency Check with written Inquiries (ANACI) eligibility for a SECRET clearance. 3. Shall be able to obtain a DOD CAC card privileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical information systems. 4. A minimum of 4 (four) years of extensive experience in "O" Level aviation maintenance. 5. Applicant will be required and must have the technical ability to qualify as a Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) within his first ninety (90) days of employment. 6. Will possess knowledge of the learning process and how to transfer technical knowledge to less qualified personnel including the ability to express thought in both oral and written communications. 7. Shall perform requirements in a manner that meet or exceeds CNAFINST 4790.2 Series applicable Naval Aviation Maintenance Program Standard Operating Procedure (NAMPSOPs) Maintenance Requirement Cards (MRCs) and local NAMSOP instructions. 8. Shall become familiar and develop a thorough understanding to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS) OOMA automated maintenance documentation system within ninety (90) days of employment. Physical Demands: This position requires normal physical functions. Work may require frequent bending reaching and climbing. May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers. Normal color/depth perception and no record of emotional instability are required. Work Environment (ADA): May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/ flight line that may be noisy at times. May be exposed to moderate discomforts such as heat cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing thru a hazardous area. Office environment hangar and flightline The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud at times.
