Principal Engineer - Production and Process (Aerospace) Principal Engineer - Production and Process (Aerospace)TEAM conducts high quality aerospace inspection and non-destructive testing (NDT) operations of Aerospace piece parts predominantly at its Cincinnati facility but also at other District locations throughout the US. Our current book of business relates mostly to the inspection of critical rotating hardware for new engine lines but we also undertake inspection of development engine parts which have undergone testing to ensure the structural integrity of these critical items. Though the Aerospace Business currently represents a small portion of the companys total revenue TEAM is investing in its facilities and capabilities to expand its market share customer base and is looking to diversify into other market sectors (such as aero engine aftermarket MRO) where its capabilities are applicable and transferrable. The company recognizes that to optimize these expanded facilities and capabilities and to successfully manage the expected increased volume and service lines the existing production and enterprise systems require updating integrating and digitizing.Position SummaryThe production and process engineer will develop and implement optimal cost-effective production processes systems and methods in accordance with the needs of the Aerospace business adhering to the requirements of the airworthiness authorities customer requirements and TEAM quality standards. The production engineer will initially be the critical accountable person responsible for digitizing and integrating bespoke production and enterprise processes which currently co-exist in stand-alone legacy systems into Microsoft AX - TEAMs chosen platform. In addition the production engineer will recommend and implement improvements to production processes methods and controls and will coordinate production launch for new service lines such as implementation of Part 145 MRO services. The production engineer responds to production process issues and concerns to ensure services are delivered to customer requirements specifications and according to customer production schedules while ensuring efficient use of resources.TEAM is seeking a high-energy self-directed individual well versed in the establishment of manufacturing/production execution and enterprise resource planning systems to undertake the above charter. This needs to be accomplished ensuring that TEAM operates in an efficient effective manner with the goal of exceeding customers regulatory and authority expectations and requirements.Essential Job FunctionsLead the assessment and analysis of current production and enterprise processes and systems piece part workflow external interfaces (purchase order/invoicing interface systems) quality and process checks applying existing and demonstrated knowledge of such systems.Recommend formalize and implement adjustments to the above systems and workflow processes to institutionalize these as standard operating procedures in the Aerospace Business applying LEAN and cell management principals to ensure that these systems can be regarded as world class.Working closely with the IT appointed lead and other business unit representatives engaged in the same process excellence journey. develop digital production control processes part routing workflow inventory tracking enterprise resource allocation and capacity modelling together with integrating external processes (purchase order through invoicing and eventually incorporating a customer portal). Such systems to be built in TEAMs MES system - Microsoft AX. Lead the TEAM development and implementation of shop floor layout in new facilities to optimize part workflow maximizing throughput and minimizing COPQ potential H&S issues and other direct or tangential risks to the business.Lead the TEAM Aerospace group through a continuous improvement process.Ensure that TEAM is operating in a 5S environment highlighting issues and leading and implementing solutions.Support the Quality Manager in all discussions with customers airworthiness authorities and industrial agencies to ensure that TEAM meets and exceeds the needs of these key stakeholders.Educate train and supervise new employees on current manufacturing and workflow processes.Develop and implement visible operational metrics for hourly staff and management to understand operational and business performance. Identify areas for improvement and drive their implementation.Together with operations management ensure that work instructions are clearly providing to the workforce to ensure services are processed on time to cost and in a safe environment.Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.Job QualificationsBachelors degree in manufacturing industrial mechanical or related engineering field preferred15+ years manufacturing/production experience preferredMaintain current understanding of industry best practicesA full knowledge and understanding of ISO AS NADCAP and FAA requirements and systems. As TEAM is intending to launch into the MRO market sector a close familiarity of FAA part 145 regulations and requirements would be an added benefit.Working command of and demonstratable operational deployment of Microsoft AX especially as it relates to the aspects described in the above sections.Demonstrated deployment of LEAN and 5S production principals in a production or manufacturing environmentDevelopment deployment and effective communication of operational metrics.
