Toolmaker II: Conventional machining experience - Understands Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
Program this requirement support: Will build the tooling that production uses to make the A/C. We are a support function not tied to a particular model.
Role and Responsibilities – what the resource will be doing on a day-to-day basis: Every day is different in this shop. We are responsible for the fixtures, hoists, and scaffolds in all buildings in Savannah as well as our completion and service centers around the world. We have Bridgeport machines, lathes, belt sanders, 3D printers, Haas machines, SNK and 30V, and welding equipment. We might be machining a detail one day, changing out a caster on a dolly the next, or welding something back together. The candidate does not have to have experience with all of these machines. I just want the candidate to have conventional machining experience.
Must-Have Skills/Non-Negotiable Skills: Conventional machining experience, understanding of Geometric Dimensional Tolerancing.
Education Level: High School
High School Diploma or GED required. Three (3) years machine shop experience and/or machine shop training at a Vocational Technical School. Valid Driver’s License required.
Position Purpose:
Under general supervision, lay out and construct tools from Tool Design, Engineering drawings and/or hand sketches. Perform the necessary calculations of the material needed to do the job.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:
- Set up and operate tool shop machinery and equipment to fabricate and assemble quality tooling from Tool Design, Engineering drawings and/or hand sketches. .
- Perform calculations of materials needed and the speed and feeds required on all of the machining functions. .
- Set up and utilize precision measuring tools; check own work for conformance to specifications. .
- Assist with tool prove out on new and reworked detail tooling. .
Additional Functions:
- Comply with all safety regulations and maintain a neat and orderly work area. .
- Operate cart and forklift. .
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- Must have a good understanding and ability to apply shop math.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints..
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
