Job Description Campus is pleased to announce our search for the Program Director for the School of Aviation Studies. As the Program Director you work in partnership with the schools lead faculty member and chief flight instructor to lead grow deliver and evaluate the School of Aviation Studies undergraduate and graduate degrees cutting-edge research and non-credit programs. You will serve as the primary point of interface and coordination with other Extended Campus program areas and with all the colleges support units managing the flow of operational activity required to support the work of the School of Aviation Studies. This is an exciting opportunity to join us as we strategically reposition the School of Aviation to capitalize on the broader changes in the aviation industry. We are developing new programs to offer students that more closely align with the needs of employers and communities in a way that will give student more autonomy to pursue topics that interest them. The successful candidate will be a high-energy and goal oriented leader with a proven record of accomplishment in managing large-scale and complex organizational enterprises preferably in an academic context. The incumbent will be flexible in nature demonstrate sound judgment possess a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and cooperation beyond the immediate team to the broader organization have the skills to assure fiscal responsibility be forward-thinking and wise in pursuit of new opportunities that are in keeping with the units mission. Must have a passion for safety excellent customer service and commitment to exceptional quality for which Extended Campus and the School of Aviation Studies is known. What youll accomplish: Actively engages manages and fosters the success of the academic programs offered through Extended Campus School of Aviation Studies Strengthens and expands existing programs while simultaneously developing new initiatives to broaden the scope of access to aviation studies for all students In coordination with the lead faculty member ensures the curricula remains current meets accreditation standards and is delivered with excellence Promoting and driving a safety first culture through all levels of the organization In coordination with the lead faculty member and the Assistant Dean for Curriculum and Faculty Support; secures and deploys instructional staff; monitors instructor performance; recommends courses for development and/or revision; recommends the scheduling of course sections; assures completion of the University Annual Assessment Report; assures completion of the Academic Program Review process as prescribed; refers contracting requests to the Faculty Resource Center and/or Centralized Scheduling Office for the various faculty services required to assure program quality and learner engagement In coordination with the lead faculty member lead academic adviser and the Assistant Dean for Student Success: assures compliance with enrollment and academic progression requirements; coordinates success and retention initiatives; provides input on scholarship and financial aid concerns; enhances experiential and prior learning opportunities for the Schools students; and assists in providing additional support services for specific learning populations (military first-generation etc.) In coordination with the lead faculty member oversee budgets and management of expenditures ensuring the break-even-plus requirement expected for all Extended Campus program and service areas; approve all travel requests in keeping with college policy; coordinate and prioritizes facility needs; oversee operational aspects of flight training assist in use of IT resources to support work of the School s programs; assist in coordination of HR functions as needed; leverage the University s available resources for program quality student success and overall advancement Ensure the school remains fully compliant with internal standards and all relevant industry regulatory and state legislated requirements Required Education: Bachelors degree in aviation aerospace education business or related field AND: Minimum of two (2) years experience in program administration Skills : Understanding and knowledge of higher education institutions administration and trends across the higher education landscape Entrepreneurial interests and accomplishments business development Proven supervisor with experience and passion for mentoring and developing leaders and high functioning teams Ability to speak read and write clear concise English Advanced computer skills with wide knowledge of business software Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students faculty and staff Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines Strong initiative to solve problems Must be able to supervise staff and communicate directions and expectations effectively Departmental Preferences: Masters or Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in aviation aerospace education business or related field Five (5) years of experience in program administration Deep knowledge of and experience with specialty accreditation processes issues unique to the provision of professionally-oriented university programs higher education faculty concerns and/or issues shared governance learning outcome assessment program review processes online and/or undergraduate and graduate levels Knowledge of and a commitment to the mission and core values of Extended Campus Advertised Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for extended periods of time doing work on a computer and via the telephone. Must be able to pull push lift engage in repetitive motions communicate including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; see including color depth perception and clarity; and hear including receiving detailed information orally.
