The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is seeking an Experienced or Lead Mechanical System Design Engineer to join the Air Vehicle Engineering team located in Oklahoma City, OK.

A successful member of this team will understand and execute modifications and upgrades for the Airborne Surveillance Command and Control (ASC2), Bombers, or the Executive Transport Services & Systems (ETS & S) programs. The successful candidate will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Fuels system of the E-7A, providing expertise in the design and sustainment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge of E-7A design and engineering principles to assess and resolve operational issues through the aircraft’s lifecycle

  • Develop and release interim and permanent engineering dispositions to ensure aircraft airworthiness and overall operational safety and effectiveness

  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design

  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups

  • Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications

  • Contributes to supplier development, test and production activities and directs the supplier to optimize integration and achieve program goals

  • Supports system components designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation

  • Trains others

  • Works under general direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • Practical experience and knowledge of Fuels, Hydraulic Systems and/or Flight Controls

  • Able to create, execute, review, and manage structural design models

  • 5+ years of experience working conceptual, preliminary and detailed design including 2D drawings and 3D deliverables

  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications

  • 5+ years of experience in CAD/CAM software (CATIA V5, SolidWorks, Siemens NX)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Active U.S. Secret Clearance

  • Experience validating or verifying Hydraulic Systems, Fuel Systems, Flight Controls, Actuation and Controls

  • Strong written, verbal communications and presentation skills

  • Experience with analytical, communication and problem-solving skills
